Despite the tense economic context (according to INSEE, household confidence continued to decline in June, for the sixth consecutive month), all observers agree in predicting excellent, even exceptional, summer attendance “perhaps the most great summer of travel that we have ever seen” according to the managing director of Expedia (La Tribune interview of June 01).
In Gironde, the 2022 tourist vintage looks indeed promising. The recovery in attendance observed in April and May was confirmed in June, with 81% of professionals declaring themselves satisfied with the month's activity. And the outlook for the high season is favorable with growth in reservations compared to last year, especially for the first half of August, and good indicators, in particular for rental and camping, the main modes of commercial accommodation in Gironde with respectively 39% and 32% of commercial nights in the 2019 season.
