The hiking loop begins at the Place de l'Eglise Sainte-Marie. The town still retains old houses from the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries in its streets. Opposite the collegiate is the old chapter house. Below, you can see the village stream where there is a small washhouse and the old presbytery surrounded by its enclosed garden. The visit of theold collegiate, one of the most beautiful Gothic buildings in the southwest of France stands out. This magnificent monument is linked to Clement V, who erected the church as a collegiate church shortly before his death in 1314 to fix his burial there. This large building retains Romanesque, then Gothic elements with a small southern portal dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The 1577th century chevet and choir were built on the death of the pope. The bell tower (XNUMXth and XNUMXth century) adjoins the church. The pope's tomb, placed in the middle of the choir in the XNUMXth century, only has a black marble chest and a recumbent figure in white marble mutilated during a sack by the Huguenots in XNUMX. Remarkable stained glass windows illuminate the church. They were made to the glory of the pope, by renowned Bordeaux master glassmakers, under the leadership of Cardinal Donnet.
