Your itinerary

1

Rauzan Tourist Information Office

When you leave the Tourist Information Office, with your "On the tracks of Robin" booklet, you find yourself in front of the medieval castle of Rauzan.
2

Village chapel

Continue your route passing in front of the village chapel (dedicated to Notre-Dame).
3

Place de la Halle

At the beginning of the 1973th century, the Durforts of Duras (lords of Rauzan) obtained from the King of France, François I, the right to create four fairs a year in the village. A large wooden hall was then built on this square with fireplaces and benches in each corner for merchants and buyers. It was demolished and replaced by a cast iron hall which was itself dismantled in XNUMX.
4

Hôtel de Ville

At the end of the 1862th century, there was a large property here which was transformed into a castle in 1883 by Arnaud Gillet. In XNUMX, the castle was bought by the municipality to accommodate the Town Hall and the school.
5

Celestine Cave

The Grotte Célestine de Rauzan is the only underground river in Gironde. It dates back to the Quaternary and was dug into the limestone rock of Entre-deux-Mers by water. It reveals splendid natural decorations such as stalactites, stalagmites, draperies, fistulas or even columns.
6

The wash house

Bordering the new Bordeaux road which has just been opened, this stream-wash house was built in 1866, just like the watering hole which runs alongside it. This large stone basin measuring 15m long and 5m wide was completed by a covered shelter in 1878.
7

St. Peter's Church

The church of Saint-Pierre de Rauzan is attested only from the middle of the XNUMXth century. Inside the building and within the main nave are three bays. The walls of the north flank, the nave, and the chevet suggest that the building was originally a single-nave church from the end of the Romanesque period. At the level of the portal (XNUMXth century period) are toric moldings, which rest on capitals. At the beginning of the XNUMXth century, the church is mentioned as being a priory of the abbey of Blasimon. The sacristy and the western porch are dated from the XNUMXth century.
