Founded in 1079 by the Duke of Aquitaine and Gérard de Corbie, it housed, at its peak, some 300 monks. Ruined and abandoned at the end of the 1840th century, it is the subject of a classification as historical monuments by the list of XNUMX.
In December 1998 the abbey was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Ways of Santiago de Compostela in France.
The route first heads north of the village towards the Lapébie greenway before returning there for a loop to the south.
