PINEUILH

Straddling the valley and the hillsides, this circuit is dominated by vineyards. The culture of the vine (viticulture) is old on these slopes which border the valley of the Dordogne. But this activity was not always a dominant culture, evidenced by the windmills for the grain. The vine has however always been a recurring crop and essential for the economy of the region.
You can also admire a rich rural heritage such as dovecotes, mills, and wine châteaux. You will pass in front of the Château de la Bourguette. This former seigneury has become an important wine estate. You will discover its pigeon house dating from the XNUMXth century which, under the Ancien Régime, was a seigneurial privilege.
The topo-guide is available at the Tourist Office.

Your itinerary

1

Departure from the church of Pineuilh.

The departure is from the church of Pineuilh. Take the small path that goes up to the virgin of Pineuilh. To do this, walk along the fence of a garden, at the start, then climb the small wood. Go straight ahead and take the small path that climbs in front of you. Arrived at the Virgin of Pineuilh, take the left path which runs along the edge of the plateau.
2

Loubéjac mill

When leaving the path, take on your left. Follow this path, which winds between vines and woods, until it forms a right angle to the right. At the end, turn left. You pass by Loubéjac's house and arrive at the mill.
3

Tord Road

At the junction, turn left to take Chemin Tord which goes down the hill. Please note that there is a beacon here. The marker on the right indicates the path to take on the way back. Go down the Chemin Tord to Guillaume Blanc, admiring the view over the valley and St Philippe du Seignal. By the way, you can read the panel on Élisée Reclus, an important character from the Pays Foyen.
4

Chateau Guillaume Blanc

At the bottom of the path, at Château Guillaume Blanc, turn right. Pass the house and take the path that passes through the vines. At the end of the rows of vines, turn right then left, as indicated by the arrow holder, then left again and immediately right. Take straight ahead. As you pass, you can observe the beautiful circular dovecote of La Bourguette, as well as the house and its outbuildings.
5

Grassy path

Then take the grassy path which passes between the hedges and continue up to the asphalt road.
6

Bournets Mill

At the paved road, turn right and walk for about 400 meters. Then take the first path on your right. On your left, in the middle of the vines you can see the Bournets mill.
7

Loubéjac mill

Through the vineyards, return to the D235. You are in front of the Bournets mill. Turn left on the road and walk along it for about 400 meters then turn right on the road to reach the Loubéjac mill
8

Back

At the mill turn left and take the original path in the opposite direction. Repeat the route to your starting point at the church of Pineuilh. If you don't remember, you can help yourself with the beacons.
