The walk begins at the Thiers jetty, which offers a beautiful panorama of the Bassin d'Arcachon, with Île-aux-Oiseaux and the famous Cabanes Tchanquées. Via boulevard Marcel-Gounouilhou, walk along the beach and reach the former Grand Hôtel. The rue du Maréchal-de-Lattre-de-Tassigny takes you to the foot of the lift which gives access to the Parc Mauresque and the Ville d'Hiver. In the maze of streets, discover these villas with timeless charm, all different from each other and beautifully preserved! Take to the skies by climbing to the Sainte-Cécile Observatory! To complete your tour, a stop at the Chapelle des Marins will take you to the very origins of Arcachon...

Getting to the starting point

The start

Departure from the Thiers jetty.

Promenade Marcel Gounouilhou

Leave the Jetée, then turn right, before Place Thiers, along the boatmen's huts.

44 boulevard Promenade Marcel Gounouilhou

Continue straight until the intersection with Place Carnot and stop in front of the Barnes agency, you can see a magnificent building behind it.

Avenue du Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny

Go around the Place Carnot building and continue on Avenue du Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny (pedestrian street), towards the Parc Mauresque and its lift located at the very end.

Mauresque Park and its casino

Arrived at the end of the avenue take the elevator located in the tower or the stairs. At the top of the elevator, you will find the model of the Casino Mauresque.

Villa Teresa, 4 Rebsomen Lane

With your back to the elevator, turn left until you exit the park.

Allée Corrigan, Villa Régina and Villa Vincenette

Return to Place Turenne and take Allée Corrigan

The Villa Carmen, 14 Lalesque Lane

Continue on Allée Corrigan, and turn right onto Allée du Docteur Fernand Lalesque

Protestant temple, Anglican Alley

Retrace your steps, and turn right on Allée du Docteur Jean Hameau and continue along the square on the Promenade des Anglais and turn right on Allée Anglicane.

Place Bremontier

Take the Promenade des Anglais back to Allée Brémontier and turn left to Place Brémontier.

Allée du Docteur-Festal, Villa Trocadéro and Villa Monaco

Facing Allée Bremontier, continue to the right of Allée du Docteur Alfred Festal.

Notre Dame Basilica

Continue on Allée du Docteur Alfred Festal, at the end turn right onto Allée Emille Pereire then right onto Avenue Rapp. At the end of avenue Rapp, you will come across the back of the Basilica, go around there to the left to access the entrance.

Chapel alley

Exit the Basilica and take the Allée de la Chapelle towards the Jetty and the Croix des Marins.

Villa Bremontier, 1 driveway Bremontier

Take the Allée de la Chapelle and cross the Place de la Basilique Notre Dame. Go left on Avenue de Mentque and go to the very end. At the end, turn left onto Allée Alexandre Dumas, then right onto Allée de Sully. Continue until the Allée de Sully crosses with Allée Faust.
