Known for its beautiful waves by surfers, Montalivet enjoys a privileged location on the Atlantic coast between the ocean and the maritime pines. This fairly recent resort is reminiscent of Californian beaches thanks to the turquoise lifeguard huts that adorn its landscape.

From the tourist office, take the avenue de l'Océan towards the seafront. After 130 meters, you will notice the resort's market square on your left. During the summer season, nearly 200 stands take place here and on part of Avenue de l'Océan! If you pay attention, you will notice a wooden building towards the left of the square. This is the post office, built in 1961. The covered market has existed since 1957.

The waterfront

Continue on Avenue de l'Océan for 600 meters. Cross the Boulevard du Front de Mer, with caution. You arrive on a small esplanade surrounded by parking spaces. First of all, you can observe a column surmounted by a virgin (1868). According to legend, going around it would bring good luck! You can also see a bust of Jacques Laporte (1906), considered the founder of Montalivet-les-Bains, as well as a commemorative stele of Operation Frankton, an operation that saved the port of Bordeaux during World War II. The beach

Retrace your steps and take the Boulevard du Front de Mer on your left. Walk along the seafront for 600 meters. The seaside resort of Montalivet is known for its surf spots and its imposing waves that you may have the opportunity to observe.

The Colony Trail

On the other side of the road, locate the sign "SENTIER DES COLONIES" and follow its direction by engaging in the sandy path. Slightly further on your left, you can observe a work of art from the "Terra Médoca" art trail present in Montalivet, Pauline Beugniot's bird trail. Continue on the path between the trees.

Back

At the end, take Avenue de Joinville le Pont on your right for 450 meters, then turn left on Boulevard du Général Leclerc. Arrived at the intersection after 200 meters, take Boulevard Foch, on the right, to the roundabout then take Avenue de l'Océan on the right to return to the Tourist Office.
