Château de Mongenan, 33640 PORTETS
To celebrate its forty years of opening to visitors, the Château de Mongenan has chosen to pay homage to a great king who was crowned exactly three centuries ago. Although he is nicknamed Le Bien-Aimé, Louis XV remained an enigmatic figure for his best friends and for many historians. Not very talkative, depressed, solitary, a lover of gardening, hunting and dogs, he leaves, not without reason, the memory of a ladies' man, when he was first passionate about politics, attentive to the progress of his kingdom, concerned about the happiness of his subjects and the greatness of France.
In thirteen lectures, Florence Mothe will draw the portrait of this great misunderstood who made his reign an enchanted parenthesis, allowed the emergence of writers and philosophers, fixed the canons of taste and allowed France to access the Enlightenment.
