The mills of Gironde open their doors to you on the occasion of the European Days of Mills and Mill Heritage on May 21 and 22, 2022. Mills have been part of the Gironde landscape since the Middle Ages. Water-powered, wind-powered, transformed into mills or fortified, they will arouse your curiosity. 29 sites are open this year, on the program: demonstration of flour and bread production, hikes, activities, guided tours... The choice is yours!

Launch of the European Days of Mills at the Moulin du Grand Puy in Lansac

The Girondine Association of Friends of the Mills, the Association of Friends of the Grand Puy mill, the Bourg Cubzaguais Tourist Office, the French Federation of Hiking 33 and Gironde Tourisme inaugurate the Days of the Mills in Lansac, at Grand Puy mill.

Magnificent windmill in operation, the Lansac mill will be open to the public all weekend and many activities will be organized: hikes on Sunday May 22 in the morning, “Make your bread” workshop, free visits every 30 minutes from 14 p.m. at 18 o'clock. In the house of the millstone you will find a demonstration of flour production and an exhibition on the Girondin mills.

REGUIGNON MILL - MARCILLAC
Flour mill built in 1908 by Gaston and Arthur HUCHET. Stopped in 1982. Alignment of five Rose Frères aircraft. Wheat brush, bran brush and Planshister. All equipment and equipment are kept in perfect condition.

In the municipal domain of Beauval, the wind turbine dating from 1888, 23 m high, restored between 1995 and 1997, is in working order. It is a wonder !

GAJAC MILL – SAINT-MEDARD-EN-JALLES
Here you will discover a water mill with 3 pairs of millstones with spinning wheels. It is a fascinating place where the owner regulates the course of the Jalle and contributes to maintaining a welcoming valley for local residents, fauna and flora.

THE NEW MILL - PREIGNAC
Former water mill from the beginning of the 1856th century, with three millstones, on an arm of the Ciron, obstructed in 150 during the construction of the railway. Abandoned for 5 years, it has been in the rehabilitation phase for XNUMX years thanks to volunteers from the Moulin Neuf and Heritage Association.

DAM MILL - PORCHES
Freestone mill on the Isle, built in 1850 on the Isle. It keeps all the machines from 1937 in working order to transform wheat into flour. Over the three levels that can be visited, you will discover the secrets of this exceptional mechanism, listed as a Historic Monument in 2007.
Guided tours from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m. at a reduced rate for all (€5, free for children under 5). Demonstration of bread making (free), sale of special breads, exhibitor stands and events. Waterbike rental for a bike ride on the river (from 3,5€ to 14€ depending on the duration) and barbecue boat for a duration of 2h30 (you make your barbecue with a packed lunch made by the guinguette).

ABZAC MILL
At the foot of the castle, backing onto the dam and the lock, this factory was one of the first to be built in the Bordeaux region. Completed around 1780, it is listed as a Historic Monument. It produced flour, oil and then became a cardboard factory in 1927. Still in business.
