With 6,8 million visits each year, the Gironde is the leading wine tourism destination in France. The Bordeaux vineyard, through the diversity of its offer and its notoriety, contributes to the attractiveness of the department. Wine tourism is a priority for the development and promotion of the Gironde Departmental Tourism Committee.

Launched in 2009, at the instigation of the Superior Council of Wine Tourism, the national Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to offer more clarity to the customer and more visibility to the destination. It is based on existing national or local quality approaches. It is awarded by decision of the Superior Council of Wine Tourism for a period of three years. It is granted to a wine-growing destination and its tourist components (accommodation, catering, visits to wine-growing châteaux, visits to sites, etc.).
With 4,3 million visits per year, the Bordeaux vineyard is the most visited French vineyard. Among these visitors, 28% of visits are made by Girondins, 41% by French people (outside the Gironde department) and 31% by foreigners. The main motivations for a stay in the vineyard are characterized by the discovery of wine and the vineyard at 40%, the notoriety of the site and the region at 26%, the discovery of gastronomy and local products at 21%.
