Tourism situation at the end of June 2021: green lights for the high season in Gironde

During this month of June, the lifting of restrictions continued, with the reopening of bars and restaurants on June 09, and even accelerated, the curfew having ended 10 days earlier than planned. A reassuring return to normal which has reinforced initial desires: while 22% expected an increase in attendance in June at the end of May compared to 2020, nearly 60% of Girondin professionals ultimately saw an increase in their turnover in June compared to last year.

But if the French clientele was very present (79% of professionals satisfied), foreign visitors are still missing, despite a gradual return of Germans and Belgians. Given this deficit of foreign tourists, the comparison with 2019, the last pre-covid reference year, remains unfavorable for the moment.

For the rest, the high season promises to be at the beginning of July as a good tourist vintage. Girondin professionals are indeed optimistic for the month of July (at 83%) and even more for the month of August, with peaks of very good impressions at 39% for the 1st fortnight and 32% for the 2nd.

With the health certificate which came into force on July 1, European tourists should return, even if they will come in fewer numbers than in 2019. And certain distant clienteles could come to swell this foreign attendance, which is particularly important for urban tourism and tourism. wine tourism.
