Wood of Thouars

With its 60 ha, 30 of which are wooded, the Bois de Thouars is home to a variety of flora and fauna. A botanical trail allows you to discover these environments through a marked 4 km route. The wood is now listed as a Classified Wooded Area and a natural area of ​​national interest. It is located in the natural domain of the Atlantic oak grove of plains and hills, the pedunculate oak grove dominates there. Several species are rare or protected: Tauzin oak, bird's-nest neottie and marsh hottonie for plants and fisherman, pipistrelle and plum pike for animals. The Bois de Thouars is also a refuge area for common wildlife.
