Village of Pessac-sur-Dordogne

At the edge of the river, Pessac-sur-Dordogne was an important port in the XNUMXth century, as still testified by the remarkable quays and slipways. Canoes-kayaks have now replaced couraux and barges of yesteryear which ensured the traffic of goods. The village built on a height has steeply sloping streets which join the quays which offer pretty views of the river. The XNUMXth century Protestant temple is close to the centre; the Romanesque church of Saint-Vincent and its elegant bell tower-arcade is away from the village. The Château de la Vidasse (XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries) adjoins the river, as does the Manor of Bernède (XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries). On the hillsides covered with vines nestle the castles of Carbonneau (XNUMXth century) and Ribebon (XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries) within beautiful wine estates.
