Village of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont

Jewel of the Bordeaux vineyards, the town of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont is built on a rocky outcrop. The houses arranged along the path that connects the two old castles of the town are constructions of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. The Sainte-Croix church with its Romanesque portal and the castle of Tastes, built in the XNUMXth century, restored in the XNUMXth century, surrounded by a beautiful park, are the emblematic monuments of the town. They proudly dominate the Garonne valley and face the great Sauternes vineyards. A belvedere allows you to enjoy the panorama. On a clear day, you can see the Pyrenees chain in the distance! A landscaped path allows you to approach the beds of fossilized oysters, an unmissable geological curiosity of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont. Some of them were dug to age the famous wines of the appellation.
