Village of Bellefond

The village of Bellefond is established on an eminence on the right bank of the Engranne, borrowed by the cycle path Roger Lapébie. The town owes its origins in the 1190th century to a priory donated around XNUMX to the abbey of Sauve-Majeure. The Sainte-Eutrope church, surrounded by its closed cemetery, is the old unfinished priory church, which has only a transept, a large apse and an apsidiole. Inside, the capitals of the apse are similar to those of La Sauve-Majeure. Next to the church, the remains of the fortified enclosure of the priory include a door and a watchtower. Below, there is a fountain, stone construction and a very pretty restored washhouse. In the village, near the old priory, old stone houses have been established since the XNUMXth century. In the hamlet of Sabatey there are two covered walkways erected in the Neolithic period.
