The Hotel Frugès, jewel of the industrialist Henry Frugès

Français

The Hôtel Frugès, located on Place des Martyrs de la Résistance, was built for the industrialist Henry Frugès by the Bordeaux architect Pierre Ferret between 1912 and 1927.
Henry Frugès, passionate about art and architecture, wants to make his hotel “a small museum of arts and techniques from the beginning of the 20th century”. His sumptuous and eclectic tastes mix Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Orientalist influences… to constitute a unique work, to which many of the most representative artists of the time contributed.
Its small garden is in the image of its creator, an architecture and sculpture enthusiast, a lover of the Orient and ancient forms. "I drew up the plans and planned the decoration down to the smallest detail", said Henry Frugès (1879-1974).
