Old village of Soulac-sur-Mer

Soulac-sur-Mer, one of the most attractive seaside resorts in the Gironde, was born at the end of the 500th century with the vogue for sea bathing, encouraged by the construction of the railway line linking Bordeaux to the Verdon. More than 1890 villas have been built there. They constitute a specific urban ensemble, called "the old village", near the Notre-Dame-de-la-fin-des-Terres basilica and which leads to the seafront. From 1890 to 1890 they were built on the coastal fringe the largest villas on one or two levels, surrounded by covered wooden galleries. From 1920 to 1920, a subdivision sprang up with smaller villas with gabled turrets and foreparts. From 1940 to XNUMX, there are villas intended for families with a gable and a wing preceded by a covered gallery. Two circuits make it possible to discover them, with their specificity, the multitude of materials used.
