Old village of Plassac

Plassac is an old village located 5 km south of Blaye and its citadel, and at the start of the Corniche road, a picturesque road that runs along the Gironde estuary. From the first century, a Gallo-Roman villa was built overlooking the river. Two other palaces will follow one another until the XNUMXth century, the remains of which can still be seen. You can admire while strolling through the alleys the works of contemporary mosaics created by Emilie Baudrais - craftsman located in the town - and the inhabitants: a boat on the port, a frame on the dike, a painting next to the museum and another next to tennis. The port of Plassac experienced very strong activity in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. The construction of beautiful freestone residences bears witness to this. The Virgin of Montuzet, perched at the top of the village, offers a remarkable view of the Gironde estuary.
