Pellegrue is one of the bastides of Entre-deux-Mers which is worth a detour. Founded in the XNUMXth century on a rocky outcrop, it still has some fine remains from medieval times.
Start with the market square and its surprising metal hall. We can guess that it was once occupied by a wooden hall, typical of medieval bastides.
From this period remains the Saint-André church, with its Romanesque facade and bell tower, added in the XNUMXth century, in a neo-Byzantine style. You discover it after a walk in the maze of narrow streets of the village.
Partly destroyed, the church of Genas on the road to Duras completes the circuit. Do not miss when you leave Pellegrue to admire three castles built between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries, Boyrac-Ségur, Lugagnac and Puch de Gensac.
