French Spanish

Between the valleys of the Dordogne and the Garonne, the Entre-deux-Mers, and in the heart of this country to the south-east of Bordeaux, the only bastide in height in the Gironde: Monségur. Founded in 1265 by Éléonore de Provence, it has retained the original framework of these new towns of the Middle Ages: the square with its covers, a glass and cast iron hall which replaced the old stone hall in the XNUMXth century, a Languedoc type church in a corner.
In Monségur, walks in the "ruets" display half-timbered houses, the Governor's Tower in Gothic style. From the walkway that dominates the Dropt valley, you can join the towpath for a shady walk along the river. You will also discover there, in the communal archives, the Esclapot, the book containing the founding charter of the bastide, and come there for the concerts of the jazz festival, the 24 hours of swing.
