The horizon mirror is a material image. It is an invitation for our eye to bounce skyward. The ancients traced a frame in the air and read the future in the flight of birds within this imaginary temple. Michel Herreria's invention brings this figure down from the clouds. The material image of the mirror and the formal image slide over each other, one in
the other. We are here trying to grasp this uncertain geometry and all the magic that is at play here. It is a daydream machine, an illusion machine, which literally pierces the restful image of the place and creates uncertainty in the perception of this beautiful layout. A disturbance that revives what we no longer know how to see out of habit and makes tangible what we do not see.
