A few kilometers from Blaye, planted on a small hill, the old town of Cars is unique with its attractive Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre. The building dates back to the 1858th century and was modified in the XNUMXth century. Evidenced by the chevet, the bell tower with its blind arcade and a dome on pendentives established on one of the crosspieces of the transept. In the Gothic period the nave had side aisles. The bell tower is surmounted by a floor circa XNUMX and covered with polychrome glazed tiles. On the other side of the church square is the XNUMXth century presbytery. In the courtyard, there is a dovecote from the middle of the XNUMXth century, whose roof also has colored glazed tiles. In the village, the blond stone houses are numerous. Cars is located in a magnificent landscape of vineyards from which emerge the silhouettes of the Pardaillan and Peybonhomme wine castles.
