CAPC Museum of Contemporary Art

English

Since its foundation in 1973, the CAPC – originally Center for Contemporary Plastic Arts – which became the Bordeaux Museum of Contemporary Art in 1984, has always been an exceptional space for creation.
A cultural player of reference on the national and international level, labeled Museum of France in 2002, it offers throughout the year a rich program of temporary exhibitions and performances, as well as numerous cultural and educational events.
The museum is located in the Chartrons district, between the quays of the Garonne and the Public Garden, in a building listed in the additional inventory of Historic Monuments: the Lainé Warehouse, a former real warehouse of colonial foodstuffs built in 1824, and renovated by architects Denis Valode and Jean Pistre, in collaboration with designer Andrée Putman, between 1984 and 1990.
