La Brede Castle

The castle of La Brède is the domain where Montesquieu was born and lived (1689-1755). A wide avenue leads to the austere Gothic castle, magnificently protected by its body of water and the moats that surround it. The castle is old: the keep dates back to the 2008th century, the two cylindrical towers, the chapel and the rest of the buildings are from the XNUMXth century. The philosopher's room is preserved in its XNUMXth century state. The place is surrounded by a very beautiful English park, the taste of which came to him during a stay across the Channel. The castle is listed as a Historic Monument (XNUMX).
