Arcachon Winter Town

Français

La Ville d'hiver (registered site), a real estate operation by Emile Pereire and the first town designed by doctors for the sick, was created to make the railway line from Bordeaux to Arcachon profitable. The architect Paul Régnaud designs a subdivision plan that will become the Ville d'Hiver. On this space are built villas all of a particular style, from the neo-Gothic to the Swiss chalet, which come together from the Moorish park where the Casino stood with oriental decor, built in 1863 and now disappeared. A stroll in the Ville d'Hiver will make you discover the most beautiful of them which bear the names of Brémontier, Carmen, Craigcrostan, Alexandre Dumas, Marguerite, Teresa, Toledo, Vincenette, Trocadéro... Also discover the places Brémontier and Fleming , the Sainte-Cécile Observatory and the Saint-Paul footbridge which are an integral part of this seaside heritage.
