Saint-Ferme Pilgrim Refuge

Wi-Fi

In Entre-deux-Mers, between Sainte-Foy-la-Grande to the north (24 kilometers away) and La Réole to the south (18 kilometers away), Saint-Ferme is a stage on the way to Vézelay which leads to Compostela . Dominating the village, its imposing Benedictine abbey is dedicated to Saint Firmin of Pamplona. It was founded during the High Middle Ages (VI-VII centuries) by black monks who were expelled in 1080 and replaced by Benedictines from the Abbey of Saint-Florent de Saumur. The abbey of Saint-Ferme has preserved the abbey buildings that surround the cloister as well as the church with remarkable Romanesque capitals representing scenes from the Old and New Testaments, animals from the medieval bestiary and foliage.
In the heart of the village, the refuge of Saint-Ferme offers 6 places for pilgrims who wish to stop there. Evening meal can be provided on request.
