The valleys of the Leyre

Taking its source near Luglon in the Landes, the Leyre crosses the Landes plateau to flow into the Bassin d'Arcachon. A canopy of foliage overlooks the river, sometimes opening up to the sky. The valleys of the Leyre, made up of the Grande-Leyre (labeled "Wild River" in France), the Petite-Leyre and the Eyre, are rare environments in Europe, where the otter, the European mink and the pond turtle. This area is ideal for walking and canoeing.
