National nature reserve of the Salt meadows of Arès – Lège Cap Ferret

Covering an area of 496 ha, the salt meadows nature reserve lives to the rhythm of the tides, which contributes to diversifying the habitats found on this site, which range from mudflats to permanently emerged land. This diversity of habitat allowed the development of a specific flora of heritage interest which contributed to the creation of the reserve. This site is also an important area for the migration, wintering and breeding of many wetland birds.
The adventure begins on this somewhat arid site, which is why part of it is nicknamed "the Desert". It changes face as the day goes by and as the tide rises and falls. Sometimes thirsty, sometimes flooded, the plant species that the walker observes have shown great acclimatization.
