The Isle and the Dronne

The Isle river flows into the Dordogne at Libourne, after a 56 km course in Gironde. Since the XNUMXth century, the river has been used as a waterway between Libourne and Périgueux. The development of the railway, and later of road transport, led to the decline of river transport.
The Dronne is its main tributary. The Isle valley is home to certain particular species of French fauna, such as the European mink or the European pond turtle. All fishing disciplines can be practiced on the two rivers or on the many ponds spread over the territory (Lauvirat, Chamadelle, Les Eglisottes).
