The protected ornithological reserve of Lac de La Prade, 5 km from Bazas, is home to exceptional flora and fauna. Embedded in the middle of hills, the huge water reservoir offers the amateur a quiet area conducive to bird watching. A large colony of gray herons has taken up residence there, alongside pairs of great crested grebes. In addition, the hillsides of the lake are part of the Girondin priority sites for dry orchid lawns. A marked footpath and educational facilities facilitate the observation and discovery of all the species listed. Fishing pontoons and picnic tables are available.
